This year we will not be taking Christmas orders. The uncertainty around the lease in Bramhall means that we do not have the staffing capacity to guarantee orders or to undertake what is a very time consuming process.
Instead we will bake lots and lots of bread on the 23rd and 24th of December and try our best to ensure that everyone gets what they want. We will still be taking orders as normal up to 22nd December too.
If you have a very large order for 23rd or 24th December, please talk to the team.
We are very excited to be a part of the Bramhall and Woodford Rotary Duck Race on 15 May. We think it is one of the things that makes Bramhall, well ‘Bramhall’. As part of the event we will have a stall selling some of our delicious treats, so do come and say hello. We are also keeping Scott busy as a judge for the Great Bramhall Bake Off. We are helping out with the event, and the winner of each category will win a masterclass with Scott in the bakery, to learn a few of his baking secrets!

Looking for something a bit different for Mother’s Day. We have a ‘loaf a month a year’ voucher for £20 which means that each month she can treat herself to a handmade artisan loaf of her choice – a tasty date and walnut loaf or wholesome Bramhall Bloomer.
We also have some very cute lemon and lavender sugar shortbreads as well as lots of options for the perfect afternoon tea!
2015 Christmas order forms are now out and we are taking orders in both shops for collection on 23 and 24 December. There is a special thank-you gift for all orders over £20 (which is worth over £10).
Download the form here (Christmas Order Sheet) or pick up a copy in Bramhall or Poynton.
Don’t forget you can order bread anytime, not just for Christmas – just call in or telephone Bramhall (0161 439 7776) or Poynton (01625 878818).
Finally, our Poynton shop tends to be quieter and it is much easier to park close to the shop, handy for quickly collecting your orders.
We are delighted to announce that we were awarded Independent Retailer of the Year at the Stockport Business Awards on Thursday. It was a wonderful evening and we are very proud to have won the award. It was great to be a part of this event and see and hear about so many great businesses which are based in Stockport. We could not have won it without our amazing team of staff and all of our lovely customers!
We are very proud and excited because we have found out that our current apprentice Sally has been awarded a prestigious national award from the Worshipful Company of Bakers, to travel on a scholarship in later this month to a French baking school for a week of intensive training on Sourdough breads.
This is the second accolade received by our trainees. Amber, who you will recognise as the face of our Bramhall Shop, was awarded the James Allen prize for the bakery apprentice of the year in 2013 and spent a week at a training centre in Scotland.
That’s 2 out of 2 apprentices winning national awards to date!
We can’t wait to hear about all of the skills and ideas she learns while in France – watch this space for an update and I’m sure there will be some new ideas on the shelf too…
We are so lucky around here with so many great picnic spots. We want to find out which are the best, so we are running a competition where you can win a luxury Bramhall Bakery picnic including sandwiches, savoury sharing bread, scones and cakes for 4.
To enter, pop into the bakery in Bramhall and fill in one of the entry forms.
The winner will be drawn at random from all of the entries received at the end of July. We will also report back about which spot our customers vote to be the best.
The last few weeks have been very busy at the bakery with lots of events on top of the day to day running of operations.
A few weeks ago we were delighted to judge and sponsor the Poynton Bake Off at the Poynton Methodist church. Scott worked his way through a wide range of delicious cakes, canapés and other goodies along with one of Poynton’s Great British Bake Off stars, Ruth Clemens. The fantastic winning team, the Victory Girls, who had created a wonderful spread in celebration of the WWII victory anniversary, will be treated to a baking masterclass from Scott later in the year.
The same week, we got the chance to visit the beautiful Gorton Monastery as part of a local community organisation’s annual conference. We were taking part in their promotion of local food producers and as a potential supplier of their cafe development in Cheadle Hulme. We met loads of lovely people and the bread samples went down a treat!
More recently, we had the pleasure of being part of the fabulous Bramhall Duck Race as sponsors of the Great Bramhall Bake Off. Yet again, as chief judge, Scott got to spend a hard afternoon eating cake!
The quality of the cakes entered into the Bake Off by the Bramhall public were amazing and it was great to be part of such a well organised and well supported community event, even in the cold and damp! The winners also received the chance to spend a day in the bakery with Scott.
We have also squeezed in a couple of talks to community groups and have loads more coming up later in the year.
We are now looking forward to the Bramhall festival coming up on 13 June. We will be out and about with a market stall (as well as in the bakery as normal) with some vintage inspired treats, vouchers and other goodies. Come and see us and join in the fun of the festival.
