The favourite so far is French toast – it is so delicious & easy we thought we would share it with you. We tried it with fruit, but I think it would be delicious and gooey with the chocolate ones too!
80ml single cream
2 eggs, lightly whisked
2 teaspoons caster sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 x day old hot cross buns, cut in half
Maple syrup & fresh fruit, to serve
Place the cream, egg, sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl and whisk with a fork until combined.
Melt half the butter in a large non-stick frying pan over a medium-high heat until foaming. Dip half the bun slices, 1 at a time, in the egg mixture and place in the hot pan. Cook for 1 minute each side or until golden brown.
Transfer to a plate and repeat with the remaining butter, bun slices and egg mixture.
Serve immediately topped with fresh fruits (such as figs or blueberries) and drizzle with maple syrup.
